JSR Dynamics was the biggest gainer in the unlisted market this week. Before you chase it, run five checks.
What happened
In the week to October 9, 2026, the unlisted share price of JSR Dynamics rose from ₹8,950 to ₹12,250, a gain of 36.9%. It was the largest weekly move among the 132 unlisted names tracked by IPO Guru, and the stock made its entire one-month gain inside that single week. ShareSaathi's ask was ₹12,250 as of October 11.
The jump came in one step, not a gradual climb. That is typical of unlisted shares: prices are dealer quotes, not exchange trades, and a single revision can move the number by double digits.
What is behind the move
- The IAF drop trial. On September 2, 2026, the Indian Air Force said JSR's Khagantak-243 long-range glide bomb had cleared a drop trial and met all its objectives. Reports say it was released from a Su-30MKI, with the MiG-29K and Mirage-2000 to follow.
- A production contract already in place. Bharat Electronics (BEL), JSR's partner on the weapon, won an IAF order for a limited number of Khagantak-243s in February 2025. The trial strengthens the case for larger follow-on orders.
- The defence theme. Indian-designed weapons are a policy priority, and investors have been looking for private ways to own the theme.
- Very few shares available. Promoters hold about 94.5% of JSR. With so little stock in circulation, a few eager buyers can move the price quickly.
What is not behind it: no new order, no new funding round and no IPO filing was announced in the week of the jump. The move reflects sentiment and scarce supply, not a new fact about the business.
Five checks before you buy
1. It has no revenue yet.
JSR reported nil revenue from operations in FY2025 and a loss of about ₹2.18 crore. It is holding ₹123 crore of inventory, which becomes revenue only when the armed forces accept deliveries. The FY2026 accounts were not yet public; they will show whether deliveries have started to turn into sales.
2. Compare the price with the last funding round.
In early 2025, investors put about ₹167 crore into JSR at ₹6,514 per share. Today's ₹12,250 is roughly 1.9 times that price. On 62.57 lakh shares, ₹12,250 values the company at about ₹7,665 crore, or around 59 times book value. You are paying for orders that have not yet shown up in the accounts.
3. Know your ticket size.
The current lot on ShareSaathi is 100 shares, so the minimum investment at ₹12,250 is about ₹12.25 lakh. Put in only money you can leave untouched for years, and size the position so that a 30% fall would not hurt. A quote that rose 37% in a week can fall just as fast.
4. Understand the transfer rules.
JSR Dynamics is a private limited company, and its articles can restrict share transfers. ShareSaathi confirms that a lot can be transferred before you pay. Pay only to ShareSaathi's official bank account, never to an individual, and keep your UTR number and payment screenshot.
5. Plan for a long hold.
JSR has not filed draft IPO papers with SEBI and would first need to convert into a public limited company. Treat this as a multi-year holding, not a listing trade. Unlisted shares generally need to be held for 24 months to qualify as long-term for tax.
Our read
JSR Dynamics is a real business: a founder who was Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force, a weapon that has cleared an IAF trial, and a production partnership with BEL. The question is not whether the company is real but whether ₹12,250 already pays for several years of success that has not yet reached the accounts.
If you believe in the long-term story and can hold through delays, it is one of the few private ways to own an Indian precision-weapons maker. Just buy it as a long-term bet with money you can afford to lock up, not because the quote went up last week.
